“31 Shades Of Pretty Me” is a 31-day transformation program founded by myself to make women fall in love with themselves (all over again). What I started as a hashtag campaign on my Instagram has turned into my passion. It’s a step-by-step program that helps women realise the importance of loving themselves. Through self-love exercises, affirmations and tasks, this program aims to take women on a journey of self-acceptance, self-love and self-admiration.
Day 1 of #31shadesofprettyme
And so it begins!! It’s the second season of #31shadesofprettyme. Till yesterday I was actually jittery and was rambling in front of Sumit, my husband – “my “31 Shades” starts tomorrow and I don’t know how will it be. I want to make it a little different this time, but the basic idea and message will remain the same. Self-love.”
He kept listening and smirking. I am yet to understand what that meant.
So, this time let me start with telling you about 5 Ws and 1 H of self-love. If you don’t know what it means then these are general guidelines of any form of communication, strategy or execution.
5 Ws mean what, when, where, who and why.
1 H means how.
In a series of 6 blogs, I will be talking about each of them.

The first W of Self-love. “What is self-love?”
Is it something that can be obtained through a new set of shoes or clothes or by getting a beauty makeover?
The answer is NO.
Infact, even a new relationship or reading motivational or inspirational posts like this can’t make you develop self-love instantly.
Yet, I am going to play the cupid here.

On a serious note, self-love is just not about feeling good. It’s about appreciating and accepting oneself through constant and deliberate actions that lead to spiritual, psychological and physical growth. Self-love is about treating ourselves with compassion and be kind to ourselves. In any situation, good, bad or ugly; self-love and self-compassion makes us realise that imperfections are a part of our existence and to err is human.
So, on day 1, begin by accepting your flaws and imperfections.

Let’s do a little self-love exercise: Stand in front of a mirror. Look at yourself from head to toe for some time. Notice every flaw, every imperfection and every perfect thing about you. Then give yourself a tight hug. Embrace yourself and embrace your perfect imperfections. Hug yourself like you are hugging a long lost friend whom you’ve met after a very long time.
Instead of punishing and judging yourself with negative feelings, gently show yourself the positive direction as the first step.
If you do this, share with me how you felt? It will mean so much to me. Your experience will motivate me too.
