Hey, hi! It’s been a while since we went for a coffee – just us two. There was a time when we had all the moments to ourselves but now, after the kids came into our lives, having privacy has become a rarity. Let’s take a break from the hustle-bustle of our daily lives. Let’s go for a coffee some day – just the two of us. Look into each other’s eyes and have a conversation that we haven’t had since very long. Let’s talk just about us. Let’s talk about anything; just anything. When was the last time we sat in a quiet corner of a coffee shop and talked about random things? I am so busy with my life that now mostly revolves around our kids, and you are getting busier with your work that we don’t know what’s actually going on with us. Let’s talk about our plans, our daily struggles, our daily disappointments and our daily achievements. I am so eager to listen to you talking to me while “looking at me” and not at kids or TV or mobile phone. Let’s go for a cuppa and have a real conversation while Bob Dylan plays in the background.
One more coffee for the road…one more coffee before I go…
Your breath is sweet
Your eyes are like two jewels in the sky
Your back is straight, your hair is smooth
On the pillow where you lie
But I don’t sense affection
No gratitude or love
Your loyalty is not to me
But to the stars above
One more cup of coffee for the road
One more cup of coffee ’fore I go
To the valley below
Your daddy he’s an outlaw
And a wanderer by trade
He’ll teach you how to pick and choose
And how to throw the blade
He oversees his kingdom
So no stranger does intrude
His voice it trembles as he calls out
For another plate of food
One more cup of coffee for the road
One more cup of coffee ’fore I go
To the valley below
Your sister sees the future
Like your mama and yourself
You’ve never learned to read or write
There’s no books upon your shelf
And your pleasure knows no limits
Your voice is like a meadowlark
But your heart is like an ocean
Mysterious and dark
One more cup of coffee for the road
One more cup of coffee ’fore I go
To the valley below
