The sun was shining bright and the wind was blowing just fine. Kenny started her day with having her favourite breakfast, the yummy pancakes. It was almost afternoon and she wanted to go out to fly the kite which her papa got for her.
“Mamma, I am going out to fly the new kite”, said Kenny loudly since she was in her room.
“Mamma, can I go?”, Kenny asks again.
“Ok, Kenny. Don’t go far”, exclaimed mama. She goes running to the attic and takes out the kite and the string. She quickly put on her shoes and ran outside towards the playground.
It was a big colourful kite with the cutest tail which was a string of paper bows attached to its narrow end. It had four colours – Red, Green, Orange, Blue – Kenny’s favourite.
With mild strokes, Kenny started flying the kite. With gentle and swift moves, she brought it up.
Swoosh! It went left.
Swish! It went right.
The tail was waving in the air like it was dancing.
It was looking so bright in the blue sky.
With a strong blow of air, the string broke and the kite swiftly drifted away in the sky far from Kenny.
Kenny looked at it sadly and went back home.
It was drifting waving its tail like it’s saying goodbye.
After a while, it came down to a zoo where some kangaroos lived. A kangaroo named Roo was watching the kite gliding down. He wanted to see it closely. The kite finally came down and fell near him.
He picked the kite with amusement and took a closer look. It was nothing like anything he ever saw before. He once saw a kid in the zoo with a shiny silver kite. He loved it! Since then he wanted to have one or maybe, fly too. He showed it to his friends and thought about flying it. But how?
If he flies it then he knew that it will not come back down. He wanted to keep it but he also knew that if he did so then the cleaners will throw it in the trash.
So, he lifts the kite and blows it away. It went up and started drifting again.
Roo looked at it sadly and it went up, up, and up.
All this while, Kenny was on the terrace searching for her kite but, couldn’t see anything in the clear blue sky.
“What’s that?”, Kenny says aloud looking at a bright thing flying towards her. It wasn’t clear since it was still far.
That bright looking thing was slowly drifting closer to Kenny and then she saw it.
“My kite! My kite!! This is my kite!!!”
Kenny was full of joy and couldn’t be happier. She spotted her kite and with open arms, waited for it to fall. It slowly came down and fell in her garden.
Kenny ran to her garden as fast she could and picked her kite with excitement.
That was the best day of her life.
