As I write this blog, it’s already been more than 8 weeks that we’re all under the lockdown, and after an eventful day, nothing unwinds us better than a good movie. My day surely ends with a movie.
Given a choice, I always pick a Bollywood movie over Hollywood. You know why? Because they can be equally enjoyed even when listening. You can carry on with your chores, do everything around in the house, yet you won’t miss a thing. That’s the thing about them! They are fun not only watching but listening too.
I particularly enjoy comedy, drama and romance movies. Easy on the eyes as well as on the mind.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui is one such Bollywood actor whose movies are thoroughly enjoyable. Known for his offbeat characters and movies, his impeccable timing and his power of depicting feelings and emotions are incredible. He is an actor who has established his name in Bollywood with a lot of hard work and after many years of doing petty roles in known and unknown movies. You watchlist during lockdown is incomplete without Nawazuddin Siddiqui movies.
Here’s a list of Best Nawazuddin Siddiqui Movies to Watch During Lockdown –
Ghoomketu
Ghoohmketu is the latest release on ZEE5 with Nawazuddin Siddiqui as the lead actor. He plays an aspiring writer from a small town in U.P. who runs away to Mumbai to become a writer in Bollywood. He gives himself 30 days to try and prove his worth. Nawazuddin plays Ghoomketu in an out and out comedy role and Anurag Kashyap plays Badlani, the corrupt cop. Loaded with brilliant actors like Ila Arun, Raghuvir Yadav, Anurag Kashyap, etc., this movie is a must-watch if you love satirical humour.
The Lunchbox
Even though Irrfan Khan played the lead role in The Lunchbox, Nawazuddin’s role was equally weighted. He played the role of Shaikh, whom Saajan (Irrfan Khan) trains to replace him after his retirement. At work, Saajan is tasked with training his replacement, Shaikh, an orphan whose incompetence initially annoys Saajan, who is already socially distant since his wife’s death. Saajan and Shaikh gradually get to know each other better and strike a close friendship as well.
Manto
Manto is a 2018 Indian biographical drama film about the famous Urdu author Saadat Hasan Manto, written and directed by Nandita Das. The film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the title character of Indo-Pakistani, author and writer Saadat Hasan Manto. The ease with which he has played and portrayed this character is truly remarkable. In my opinion, I don’t think any other actor would have justified this character.

Photograph
In Photograph, Nawazuddin plays the role of a struggling street photographer in Mumbai. Under the pressure to marry by his grandmother, he convinces a shy stranger to pose as his fiancée. Amidst the drama, the pair develop a connection that transforms them in unexpected ways. This movie will leave you with a smile on your face.
Freaky Ali
This movie will surprise you and leave you with a sweet aftertaste. Nawazuddin played the protagonist Ali in this sports comedy movie. Even though this film is inspired from Hollywood movie Happy Gilmore, Nawazuddin owned the character and turned it into something so unique and original. Don’t miss this one!
Even though he has played many big and small roles in numerous movies, these five movies are my personal favourites. I even loved him in Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Sacred Games, Thackeray and Mom. His dialogue delivery and acting genius is sure to make you remember his movies and characters for a very long time.
